It Just Is

The marvelous thing about painting is the absolute freedom one has in the conversation. One is not reduced to known words, one is not confined to what sounds a musical instrument is capable of making. A painter can combine various colors together to create a color that has no known name. The painter does not need to find a way to describe that color - the eye interprets and defines the color. The viewer does not need any descriptive words to understand it - it just is. Using “words” to describe a painting is much like describing the sound of a Bass Clarinet to a deaf person.
