Signed Works Much More Valuable

One day at LaRotonde, Modigliani drew a portrait of an American lady who insisted that he sign it because she had heard somewhere that signed works were much more valuable. Modigliani looked her straight in the eye, then took his pencil and wrote his name on the drawing in huge capital letters, like an advertisement, right across her face.
